Zombieland This story takes place in Hilsville, which is right on the border of Pa. and Ohio. It's one of those stories that your parents tell you and then you tell all of your friends, like a local legend. I was probably about 10 when my mom and dad first told me the story of "Zombieland", which consists of "The Puerto Rican Bridge"(which is a really creepy one lane bridge), "The Eternal Flame"(an old gas line that you can light), and the "Zombie Huts". So anyway, a long time ago there was a safehouse of some sort for these disfigured and mentally disabled people. Story goes that the house burned down, and all of the patients died in the fire. Time went on and the area, which is completely surrounded by woods, kind of went to sh*t. High school students in the 60s and 70s started using it as a hangout where they could go and drink without getting caught. And of course, being that it was a pretty isolated wooded area (believe when I tell you that it is majorly creepy up there) the stories started. The most notorious is that if you are to walk from the Puerto Rican Bridge into the woods, you'll find the eternal flame, which you can easily light with a match or lighter (this much I have seen). When you have completed this, the zombies with "water on the brain" are said to come out and drive you away. The zombies are supposedly the bodies of the disfigured mental patients. Another is that the second your car crosses onto the bridge, it is supposed to stall. I've been to this point several times, and the car I was in has only stalled once, so I don't really know, judge for yourself. The only part of the story that I know is true for sure is "The Green Man". I'm not sure what was wrong with him, but something had happened to him that gave him a greenish appearance. He supposedly was a nice guy, though he never talked. The only thing he did was go and get a beer or two from whatever people were partying in the area. There's an old newscast with him in it, and he was just a tall funny looking man. Since he died in the late 80s it has been said that sometimes when kids are up there drinking, they'll suddenly be missing a couple of beers, and can see an eerie green glow retreating back into the woods. Thats basically all of it. Some kids have died up there, mostly falling off the bridge, and mostly it's because they were drinking. The only time it wasn't was when some construction workers were checking the bridge and were looking into tearing it out and making a more modern two-lane one. There were three of them up there one day, and one of the guys was leaning over the edge, checking out the area, when, according to the other two men, he simply fell for no reason. When the paramedics arrived, his neck was twisted backwards. Now thats some weird stuff.
