Highview Horror These weird things happened in Nanuet, NY when I went to Highview Elementary school (it holds 4th and 5th right now). I swear that this is true and an old friend of mine could prove it too. Here's some background though. Highview is about 100 years old and some parts of the school still are old looking. Although the halls are carpeted and much is restored, it just has the feeling of being old. The chairs in the auditorium/ gym look at least 50 years old, are wooden-fold-downs, and many you unable to sit on at all. The floor is a typical basketball court, and nearby on either side of the small stage are renovated locker rooms now used as storage and an office. In the old locker room on the left there is the gym teacher's office at the very bottom of the stair case. But on the right... no one really knows what's there besides storage and accumulating dust. Around comes lunch time and my friend and I are talking together, as usual. Everyone seemed to be really excited because we would be graduating soon and after the long winter, its finally nice and warm outside. We were left behind in the classroom and just strolled out not taking notice that we were alone. We walked down the hall and took a left to cut across the gym, down to the lower-playground. I opened the door and we jogged down the stairs, making echoes as we went. As we reached the bottom of the steps I thought I heard a soft sniffling sort of noise, almost like faint crying of a girl. It was so quiet in the gym, but I literally stopped walking. My friend bumped into me and said a little annoyed, "Why'd you stop?" I responded, "Do you hear that?" She listened for a second then just said again annoyed, "What?" The whimpering went on, I thought it was my imagination and just shook my head. But as we neared the door on the right, my friend said, "Oh umm, yeah. I hear that." I turned and we both were worried. Was there a 4th grader crying somewhere? I looked behind my friend at the chairs to see if anyone was sitting there but there wasn't. Because the noise was so faint, I didn't rightly know where it was coming from at first. Then I realized were it was coming from. I was kind of scared to say it, because we had heard of many freaky Highview ghost stories. So nervously I said to my friend, "Is it just me or is it coming from there?" I pointed to the right locker room. "Its not just you..." she replied. Being little gutsy kids, I motioned for her to follow me. I poked my head down into the doorway and down the small flight of stairs. The corner blocked my view, but the sound got louder, so we knew we were on the right track. I didn't want to go any further, who knew what was down there? I whispered to my friend, "No way am I going down there." I turned to walk towards the door, but then I heard a voice that chilled me to the bone. "Please... help me. She's going to find me and hurt me." My friend and I got so freaked out that we pushed each other numbly out of the way for the door outside. My friend opened the door so quick that it almost hit me in the face! We went outside into the sunlight peaking through the leaves. I was breathing so hard and just looked at my friend. The only thing we said to each other for the rest of the day was, "Oh... my... god." We were both so shook up that we never told anyone. Besides, who would believe us? Thinking this we kept quiet for awhile. Then it happened again, except this time slightly different. We figured what are the odds of it happening again and why bother to go the long way around the building? As we walked across the basketball court floor we heard the whimpering again. I quickly had a flash back to the first incident and ran towards the door outside. I heard my friend following and as I closed the metal door the last thing we ever heard was a shrieking scream of a little girl and the bang of our door closing.
